Dear Ambassador,

Greetings to our new members, and a warm welcome back to those familiar eyes – if you're wondering where the year went, you're not alone! It's December already, and I find myself yearning for a timeout that, alas, isn't in the cards.

As we dive into the holiday season, many of us fall into one of two mindsets: the Holiday mindset, advocating for slowing down and cherishing time with loved ones, and the December mindset, urging us to buckle down, plan, and organize for the upcoming year. While leaning towards one mindset is commendable, I believe that finding a balance between both is the key to a fulfilling December.

This month is about more than just existing; it's an opportunity to celebrate the progress we've made in 2023. Simultaneously, it's a chance to ensure that our actions now set the stage for success in the new year. Striking this delicate balance involves mindfulness, a universal starting point that can take various forms for each of us.

Over the next month, consider engaging in the following mindfulness prompts to embrace the duality of both mindsets:

• Pause and observe your surroundings, noticing five things about the space you're in.
  
  
• Choose a routine task, like making lunch or tea, and pay attention to your senses as you perform it.
  
  
• Consciously listen and understand when conversing with loved ones. Let go of distractions and engage all your senses.
  
  
• Watch a sunrise, sunset, or the night sky, adopting a mindset of wonder and noting your observations.
  
  
• Set hourly reminders to take a conscious breath, bringing awareness to your current activities.
  
  
• Before responding to messages, take a breath, tune into your thoughts and feelings, and respond with a settled mind.
  
  
• Reflect on the past year, identifying three significant wins and areas for improvement. Review how your time aligns with your goals and plan for the upcoming year, prioritizing your mental health.

I encourage each of you to try these mindfulness exercises throughout the month. As you reflect on your victories this year, don't hesitate to share them with me—whether via email or Discord. Our community thrives on celebrating each other's accomplishments and I’d love to feature some of them in our next newsletter.
